In the world in which we live we are in the "Christmas Season." (I think it started before Halloween.) There's the decorating, the shopping, the partying, etc.
In the Church we are in the Advent Season - a time of prayerful expectation and preparation for the coming of the Savior into the world and into our lives.
How do we reconcile these two very different klinds of seasons? I think that, rather than opposing one against the other, we can combine them. The spirit of Advent (bringing Christ to the world) can be the spirit we bring to the shopping, to the decorating, to the partying, etc. That way we are bringing Christ to those we meet in this hectic world in which we live.
Happy Advent & Merry Christmas Season.
