Ministry Coordinator Blog

January 2022

Welcome 2022!

I hope you all had a wonderful Christmas and that 2022 is full of blessings.

Last month due to kind donations our St. Paschal Church St. Vincent de Paul Conference was able to serve the poor in our area.2022 NY
• Paid part of the electric deposit for a young mother of three so they were able to move into an apartment before Christmas.
• Helped a parishioner get her plumbing fixed so she had water before Christmas.
• Provided food cards to people needing help buying Christmas meals.
• Donated to the food bank.
The next meeting is on January 10 at 6:00 pm in the St. Francis Room.  Come be a part of this amazing ministry!

ATTENTION St. Paschal Senior Citizens.  Would you be interested in attending a Senior Lunch Bunch once a month at the Church?
The church would supply the main dish and we could each bring a covered side dish.
We would eat and then play cards or board games. Food, Fun, Fellowship. Please let me know if you are interested and what day of the week would be good.

Cathy Nolan and I have completed a review of the 2021 year activities of the ministry coordinator and how these are addressing the goals and objectives of the Strategic Plan for St Paschal Parish. This has been presented to the Pastoral Council.

Until next month peace be with you,
Robin

December Blog

Greetings and Blessings to you all!

We are entering Phase II of the Flocknote launch. We have reached our first goal of 100 Flocknote participants! Yea! Phase II will describe to all parishioners what Flocknote does and the benefits of joining. It will also provide ministry leaders with helpful information so they can utilize Flocknote to keep their ministry enlivened by communicating with their ministers. There will be a training session in January in the school cafe featuring an interactive zoom presentation with a representative from Flocknote.jessee tree

The next St Vincent de Paul meeting will be Monday, December 13 at 6:00 pm in the St. Francis Room. We will be electing officers and creating committees and will then be ready to accept cases.

The Parish Mission with Father Jim was well attended and very well received. Special thanks to Kathy Wallace for all her hard work in coordinating this event.

We will begin promoting the online prayer group by encouraging people to sign up on Flocknote to receive weekly communications from this ministry. Each week a prayer or information about prayer is emailed or texted to those who sign up. Interaction among members of the group to ask for prayer requests, to show support for those requesting prayer or share their thoughts about prayer is encouraged. We will introduce this ministry in the bulletin and online soon.

We now have an online parish calendar on our St. Paschal website. A printed version was placed in the December 5th bulletin. The online version will be updated with new events or changes to the current schedule. It is on this website click on CALENDAR in the top menu or Click Here and check it out.
Merry Christmas!

Grace Place Ministries is asking that we help keep a child warm this Christmas. Fill a medium bag with a winter cap, gloves, a stuffed animal, and other goodies listed (CLICK for more) to be dropped off at the church office before December 13. They also have a big need for new and used coats for adults and children. These need to be dropped off at Grace Place 1600 Jackson St, Monroe.

I want to thank the parishioners who donated candy and everyone who helped make the Halloween Carnival such a hit. So much fun was had by all.

The welcome meeting for St Paschal St Vincent de Paul Society was a success. It was well attended and I believe people got an idea of what this ministry is all about. The attendees decided to have regular meetings on the second Monday of the month at 6:00 pm in the St Francis Room. The next meeting will be on December 13. October Blog

Fall is in the air! Thank you God for the many blessings you bring this time of year. We had a successful Senior Luncheon on October 9th. Thanks to all the people who came out to help with this event. Happy Fall Yall

Our next event will be the drive-through Halloween Carnival on October 27th at 6:00 pm. We need bags of individually wrapped candy. Please drop off at the church office. If you would like to decorate your car and join us in the church parking lot we will provide the candy.

Our first meeting of St Paschal St Vincent de Paul Society will be on October 28th at 6:00 pm in the St Francis room.  SVdP is an international Catholic lay society that cares about and shares with the poor.  We have a chapter at our parish that will serve our geographic area.  At this 1st meeting, we plan to have at least two speakers to explain the purpose of this ministry and St. Paschal’s role.  Please attend to learn about the organization.  It should be a rewarding experience.

The Online Prayer Group is active on Flocknote.  Check it out!

If you have not signed up for Flocknote please do by texting SPCCWM to 84576. If you have any questions please CLICK to contact either myself or Cathy Nolan.

Until November peace and everything good,

September Blog

It has been a pleasure meeting and getting to know Father Pike Thomas, our Parish Administrator. His sermons have been thought-provoking plus he’s just a lot of fun to be around! Thank you Father Pike.subscribe FN

We are excited to announce the launch of Flocknote on the weekend of September 18.  A great new way for everyone to keep up with what's going on at St Paschal. You can choose to receive texts or emails with important announcements that pertain to all parishioners. You can also choose to get news for all parish ministries and to communicate with other parishioners. Cathy Nolan and I have worked very hard on this and hope it will be a success. The sign-up is so easy and the whole thing is user-friendly! So SIGN UP!

We have started three new parish ministries and are inviting parishioners to join. Send us a Flocknote and we will be in touch with you!

  • The Welcome Committee greets people at Masses and other parish events and provides a gift basket to new parishioners and contacts them to welcome them to our parish

  • The St. Paschal Society of St. Vincent de Paul is a chapter of an international lay catholic society. Members join together to grow spiritually by offering person-to-person services to those who are in need by providing food, clothing, housing, and medical resources. St. Paschal parishioners participate in the parish chapter by volunteering their time and providing needed donations.
    •  Our first meeting agenda will include scripture, planning our fundraiser Oodles of Noodles which we hope to hold in the spring, and discussing a future social justice project.
  • The On-Line Prayer Group will provide a weekly text or email with an inspirational prayer. Later we hope to send them daily.

Until next month, peace and everything good.  Robin

August 2021 Blog

We are sad to announce that due to the Covid 19 resurgence Bishop Malone determined that our Appreciation Celebration for Fr. Frank is Canceled and our Parish Picnic is postponed. We continue to pray for an end to the Covid 19 Pandemic.
Pray together sm
The Adult Faith Formation Team is planning a set of prayer events to support the parish as we face the changes here at St. Paschal. We will be contemplating what lies ahead as the Diocese makes provisions for priests to shepherd our parish without Fr. Frank Coens & the Franciscan Order.  Our prayers are also with our beloved Fr. Frank & the Friars of Province of the Sacred Heart.

I am excited to get back to work at St. Paschal after my recent heart surgery. My recovery is going well and I will be back in the church office on Monday, August 23.  -- Robin Ford Cardneau, Ministry Coordinator, St. Paschal Church
